Carol Ann Duffy will become Britain's first female poet laureate, pending a Downing Street announcement tomorrow. It is a legacy that rather differs from its American counterpart: past poet laureates of Britain include John Dryden and William Wordsworth. The position is a ten-year term. Duffy will succeed Andrew Morton.
