I hope you'll consider joining me in getting out the vote for the fantastic Nancy Goldstein in the "America's Next Great Pundit" contest over at The Washington Post--an elimination-style program to find an outstanding opinion-page writer on one of the most influential platforms available. Your vote can help determine what kind of voice is shaping the public conversation. Spinning off this weekend's headlines, I urge you to choose a voice for sanity and insight.
Nancy Goldstein's work speaks for itself--but I'll go ahead and elaborate by saying that it is, indeed, fantastic and interesting. This is true whether she's writing op-eds about military hysteria over "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," or that weird call from Virginia Thomas to Anita Hill, or Blackwater, or what the Dems could learn from the Tea Party's Reagan populism, or a critique of writers that cover the financial sector but don't question their spin. Should she win, Goldstein will be the first out lesbian to ever write regularly for The Washington Post opinion page--or, it seems, any major newspaper's opinion page.
Today is the final day to show your support, and it's only one vote per person. Polls are open today until 6pm. Voting is extended until noon tomorrow (Tuesday, November 2) due to heavy voting today (and the resulting tech slowdown). Game on!
Thanks for the love! BTW, voting extended until today (Tuesday the 2nd) at noon EST so please keep 'em coming!
Best,
Nancy
