You all know that I love Guernica, "a magazine of art & politics," right? A modest search for Guernica on Isak turns up an impressive helping of linkage in posts like:
- "Guernica is Kicking It with the Writer Interviews"
- "Worldwide Writers Bloc"
- "Interview: Aimee Bender"
- "Alice Walker on Writing and Spirit"
- "From Alienation to Belonging"
... and so on. So I'm super-honored to take on a new role of editing nonfiction stories at Guernica, alongside a great team that includes the likes of Jina Moore and Michael Archer. I'm excited to experiment with this side of storytelling, and to contribute to a magazine that has such a meaningful role to play in our conversations.
This new gig means that I'm on the prowl for your great feature stories. Pitch me at annaleighclarkATgmailDOTcom! Guernica writer guidelines are here. If you follow Isak, you have a pretty good sense of the kinds of stories that I'm interested in, but in general I'm looking for original narrative and/or reported essays on art and culture with real-world stakes. Stories on international and translated literature are close to my heart, but whatever ground they cover, I want stories that make the body hum, the mind spark.
