I am by no means the first person to realize that Alison Bechdel rocks. With the release of her new graphic memoir, Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, Bechdel's longtime reputation of talent and truth is simply reaching a point of great heat: I'm just the most recent fan on the bandwagon.
Seriously, though, I can't wait to read her book. And I was counting the days until she visits the Center for New Words in Cambridge this Friday--all set to absorb some of her good energy--when I realized, moments ago, that her event conflicts with my plans to head up to Maine this weekend.
Grr. Well, I guess I'll be sustaining myself on Bechdel's comic strip, interviews, and, of course, her other creative work until she passes through town again.
