Writer Naomi Wolf is interviewed by Amy Goodman over at Democracy Now!. Wolf, the author of the feminist classic The Beauty Myth (which happens to be one of my favorites) has a new title out: The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot. It's already a bestseller.
She's one smart cookie. Don't miss her thoughful (if a bit rushed) comparison of present-day United States with the rise of twentieth-century fascist states. I was particularly interested in her comments on the use of language.
From Goodman's introduction:
"Naomi Wolf outlines what she sees as the ten steps to shut down a democratic society and argues that the Bush administration has already implemented many of these steps. ...
"Critics describe her latest book, “The End of America,” as a wake-up call to Americans to heed the lessons of history and fight to save their democracy before its too late."
