I'll be an intermittent voice here through Sunday because I'm getting on a plane today to head to Boston for the Women, Action, & the Media (WAM!) conference from the Center for New Words. It'll be my third time at the splendid gathering and my first visit to Boston since I moved away this past fall. I'm five kinds of excited to see old friends and visit favorite places while doing the whole skill-building/learning/energizing/inspiring thing. Oh, and there's dancing. I love the dancing.
WAM! also marks the two-year anniversary of your friend, Isak; I wrote my first post at a blogging workshop at my first conference in 2006. It was well worth price of admission. This blog has been an enormously fun, reflective ride for me. And the community's growing: the page-view-per-day has doubled in the last eight months. It's quite an improvement over the 10 or so daily hits in the early months, when it was just me and my mother visiting.
Thanks to all of you. I'm looking forward to growing the conversation in Isak's third year with more guest contributors and expanded multimedia features. Stay tuned.
Oh, WAM! Buddy!
It was so lovely to see you, even if briefly, at WAM!!! I hope you had a blast. xxx

PS- What was your favorite panel?

I had an amazing time! I definitely wanted more time to talk with old friends--you included--and that's the biggest regret. Favorite sessions: I loved the keynoters, especially Haifa Zangana. The panel on "Dying For Your Entertainment" on the media freak-out about the destruction of female celebrities was very good--I like that speakers didn't necessarily agree with each other. Also, the final panel on abortion ("Who's Talking About It? Is Anyone Listening?") was great--Frances Kissling rocks my socks.
Guh! There was more! I'd love your thoughts! And THANK YOU for working so hard to make this weekend wonderful for MORE THAN SIX HUNDRED PEOPLE!
