Ever hear of Sixty-Six: The Journal of Sonnet Studies? Well, that's because it's spanking new. The word from a friend of mine who's on the inside is that Sixty-Six seeks both submissions and patrons for what--as far as I know--is the only current lit mag of its kind.
"We have new sonnets, new translations of Baudelaire, Lorca, Petrarch and others, as well as reviews and essays. "
The submission guidelines expands on that:
"... the editors seek submissions of original sonnets and sonnets in English translation, articles on the history of the form and its contemporary use and variations, and explications of particular sonnets, sequences, or sonneteers."
It looks like the print magazine will come out every February and publish a chapbook each fall. It's aimed for general and literary audiences. If you love the sonnet this might be the time to geek out on it.
