Hobart delivers its annual baseball/literary mash-up issue while most of us are still giddy with hope and expectation for the season (and its only Tigers fans that will escape disappointment; you didn't even hear it here first).
Dig into haikus, a Roy Kesey story, and Nick Fox's interview with novelist C.J. Hribal, whose joy for the game spills into craft-talk, and the storied Poets vs. Prosers summer softball game at the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers gets its due attention.
(It's worth noting that my first semester at WWC, days after matching up with Hribal to be my mentor in the program and still nervous-kneed, I must have impressed this rabid baseball fan by getting the game's final out on a meager foul ball, for a Prosers loss. This might have something to do with the fact that very little of the interview's baseball shop talk came forth in my own conversations with Hribal)
