Well, how convenient: this badass film happens to be out there, ripe for the watching. I saw it at the Detroit Institute for the Arts Film Theater--introduced by a two-girl band called Motor City Midwives.
I don't think the trailer captures how funny, and uneasy, and graphically interesting, and music-centered "Girls Rock!" is--it makes it seem more sentimental than the full film is--but its at least an introduction to the wonderful personalities that move it along. I was moved by the movie's exhortation of the need to make noise, to move, to take up space...and, as one interviewee put it, for a place where girls learn how to treat other girls.
God, I want to go to this camp. Damn you, cutoff age of 18 ...
