This evening, I made my last visit to Shaman Drum Bookshop. It was a visit noteworthy for my strangely giddy browsing of the irregularly ordered shelves stocked with treasures that were available at prices that would leave you aghast, and also for a great reading I caught (the last regular reading at the bookshop, in fact).
I came away with a weighty backpack and sore shoulders. Here are the books I bought, in the order that I pulled them out of my bag and added them to my shelves (if by "shelves" you mean "milk crates"):
- Emma, by Jane Austen
- The Winter's Tale, by William Shakespeare
- The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man, by James Weldon Johnson
- Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson
- What is Found There: Notebooks on Poetry and Politics, by Adrienne Rich
- After the Fall, by Arthur Miller
- All My Sons, by Arthur Miller
- House Made of Dawn, by N. Scott Momaday
- Macbeth, by William Shakespeare
- The Lost Massey Lectures: Recovered Classics from Five Great Thinkers, ed. by Bernie Lucht
- Howards End, by E.M. Forster
As well, I picked up a set of beautiful cards. And a handful of Shaman Drum bookmarks. Because as you can see, I'll be busy.
Sounds like you have quite the collection of classics there...I'm surprised they still had all of those in house!

It's true, I was worried that by now the pickings would be quite slim! But they pulled up their basement stock, and a lot of great ones are still on the shelves...
