It looks like Kirkus Reviews will leave to see another day -- many days, in fact. And Editor & Publisher, while it ostensibly published its final issue after 125 years, continues its good work "in exile" and is in conversations with potential buyers. Things are looking not so grim as they once were ...
Though, about Kirkus' new economic model: as the likes of Duke University Press and The Washington Post's Ron Charles have pointed out via Twitter, perhaps it is not the most sustainable strategy to charge a couple thousand people $450/year for your publication ... and to charge publishers just to see a fax of a book review. "Of a book we sent them. For free."
