I HOPING THAT THIS MESSAGE WOULD GET TO MS. ALICE WALKER. YOU HAVE BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE WRITER SINCE I LEARN ABOUT YOU THRU MY MOTHER RUTH FERRELL JESTER, AFTER THE MOVIE COLOR PURPLE. NOW THAT I BEEN PUTTING TOGETHER MY GRANDMOTHER (SADIE WALKER FERRELL)FAMILY TREE AND IT LEARN ME THAT I HAVE A LOT OF WONDERFUL PEOPLE IN OUR FAMILY, BUT TO FIND OUT THAT YOUR GRANDFATHER AND MY GRANDMOTHER WAS BROTHER AND SISTER. MY NAME IS AURELIA JESTER RUSSELL AND ME AND MY FAMILY STILL LIVES IN ATLANTA. I GOT AS MANY MEMBERS FROM GRANDMA SADIE SEVEN CHILDREN AND WE ALL WENT DOWN TO EATONTON, GA. I TOOK A LOT OF PICTURES OF THE GRAVE SITES AND WALKER FAMILY TOMBS. IF I NEVER TALK OR HEAR FROM YOU. I FEEL VERY PRIVILEGE TO KNOW THAT MOST OF MY RESEACH CAME FROM TWO OF YOUR BOOKS AND MANY OF YOUR POEMS.

Isak

  • Isak is a space to celebrate tales and truth in the curious, joyful way embodied by the writer for which it is named. The name "Isak," after all, means "laughter," as she was fond of pointing out.
