Here's what's happening.
My friend from writing school, Alicia Jo Rabins,
is not only a remarkable poet, but also the feisty fiddling/songwriting force behind Girls
in Trouble, a great band that's touring the U.S. this spring. (Perhaps you know Rabins from the similarly badass band, Golem.) Girls in Trouble is bringing an especially literary bent to its performance in Hamtramck at Cafe 1923 this Tuesday. I get the pleasure of
joining her and poets Matthew Olzmann and Vievee
Francis in giving a fiction reading before the show. It is free, though perhaps you'll be inclined to purchase a little something-something from this great cafe.
Good people
and art and coffee. I defy you to come up with a better way to
spend your Tuesday evening. And I'll see you there.
Reading: Matthew Olzmann (poetry), Vievee Francis (poetry), and Anna Clark (fiction)
Music: Girls in Trouble ("... beautiful literary folk-inspired melodic art-pop that tells the stories of obscure women in the Old Testament in an attempt to rescue their complicated stories/myths from oblivion.")

Locale: Cafe 1923; 2287 Holbrook; Hamtramck, MI
