For those in and around Detroit this weekend, be sure to check out the fifth annual urban craft fair--the first and largest indie craft fair in the state--over at the Fillmore theater on Saturday and Sunday. Hosted by Handmade Detroit, there will be more than 75 vendors, a mini-zine library, and "make and take" areas for you to DIY work of your own--including one facilitated by i3 Detroit, a "community hackerspace," that will spread out over the mezzanine for an ongoing step-by-step workshop on jewelry-making and wearable electronics. This is also the first year where one of the vendors is food-centered: the lovely Pinwheel Bakery from Ferndale. All ages are welcome, and there will be two shuttles helping you to get where you want to be. See more details here and here. There is also a nice preview of the craft fair in Real Detroit Weekly.
