... these are all profiled in The Austin Chronicle today. It would be nice if tonight's reading and reception at the Austin Museum of Art were only in celebration of Fall Higher, Young's new collection of poems from Copper Canyon Press. Alas, it is also about raising funds in support of Young's search for a heart (the physical kind; Young's metaphorical heart is as robust as ever).
Dean Young won't hold court alone tonight: he'll be joined by poets Tony Hoagland, Mary Ruefle, Thomas Lux, Dobby Gibson, Barbara Ras, Stuart Dischell, David Rivard, and Joe Di Prisco. A host of other Austin thinkers and writers will be there too. See the full story about the event here.
Go to that reading. It's free. It'll be worth it for its own sake, I'm sure, but also any donation that you offer is critical in making it possible for Young to receive a heart, transplant surgery, and post-operative care. Can't make it tonight? You can still show your love online.
